Pengaruh penambahan tepung tanaman bangun-bangun (Coleus amboinicus Lour) dalam ransum terhadap penampilan reproduksi induk dan anak babi menyusu
Abstract
Coleus amboinicus Lour has been used as a breast milk stimulant (a lactogogue) by Bataknese people in North Sumatera for houndreds years. The main objective of this study was to investigate the effects of sow dietary addition with bangun-bangun plant meal (Coleus amboinicus Lour) on the reproduction performance of sows and its piglet development preweaning. The design of the research was completely random design factorial (4 x 2) with three replication. The first factor was percentage of addition of bangun-bangun plant meal in feed (0, 2.5, 5 and 7.5%) and the second factor was given time of feed (on day 107th pregnant and day of giving birth). Addition of bangun-bangun plant meal had significant effects (P<0.05) to decrease on birth mortality. The given time of bangun-bangun plant meal in sow feed had significant effects (P<0.05) on early time weaning to estrus interval. Interaction of two factor had significant effects (P<0.05) to increase sows and piglets feed intake, milk production, piglet weight gain per litter, weight at weaning per litter and litter size at weaning but treatment did not affects on gestation and birth time, weight of piglet at birth, litter size at birth, mortality before weaning, sow reproduction cycle and decrease of sow weight. Effects of sow feed addition with 5% bangun-bangun plant meal on day 107th pregnant improve the performance of sows and piglets.
