dc.description.abstractBatik industry is making batik textile industry and is done by writing without the aid of modern machinery that uses a retractable “canting batik” on factory, pattern, color and unique texture. Nearly 80% of people's livelihood in Pekalongan have industrial sectors, namely industrial batik. From the beginning until now rely on the livelihoods of people in Pekalongan batik. Presence in the city of Pekalongan batik industry affects workers social batik life. What about their social life or work in small businesses and large enterprises to be able to survive in the Batik industry. The purpose of this study summarized in three questions. First, know the different structure of the domestic life of traditional batik workers in small industries and large industries on site. Second, know the difference in the quality of social life of traditional batik workers in small industries and large industries on site. This research was conducted in Pekalongan, Central Java in March 2011. The primary data obtained through questionnaires to respondents and in-depth interview to the informant, while the secondary data obtained from the relevant governmental institutions. Respondents were selected using random sampling techniques to select 60 respondents from the two industry types, namely Small and Large. Second batik industry, which consists of four small and four large industry, with a total of eight in the entire industry Pekalongan batik. Region chosen as the location of the batik industry Medono, Pesindon Batik Tourism Village, Kampung Batik Kauman, Noyontaan and Setono. Data were analyzed with Chi-Square test statistic with alpha value of 10%. The result is processed, then analyzed with frequency is presented in table and cross table. The results showed the economic conditions of domestic workers in two types of batik industry, both small and large industries. Seen on the structure of household income earned, changes in the level of income in the year 2006-2011 batik, the perception of the contribution of household income, changes in employment opportunities outside the batik industry sector in the year 2006-2011, the effect-making skills, to increase the hours of overtime work of batik, structure of expenditure/household consumption and labor time allocation batik. It can be concluded that the workers of the traditional batik home industries, small and large industries will survive (survival) in the economic sector because batik used as I support a "last resort" the workers batik. The role of the husband contributed much in household livelihood support. According to the results of field research in the social life of the workers in both types of industry batik changed his social life. Especially in the large industrial workers batik a greater level of satisfaction with the work in the batik industry.en
