dc.description.abstractThis research is about relationships that occur in communication conducted via the Internet. The study used a descriptive approach with a survey method. The respondents were users of Internet services in internet cafes. This study focused on the relationship between individual factors (ethnicity, language, origin of birth, last education, occupation, income, and gender), communication via the internet, and intimate relationships. Based on the results obtained, the last education, occupation, gender appear to be associated with communications over the Internet. It is seen from the intensity of use of e-mail that is high by the majority of Internet users has been characterized by graduating college, and has worked, and female gender are a bit more is high in frequency of use of social networking. Meanwhile, although based on research results of internet users feel the trust and openness that is low, but Internet users feel the concern and compassion that is high. It is known to quite fit with the so-called false intimacy by Henline (2006).en
