compressed bulk density, kerapatan tumpukan, kerapatan padatan tumpukan,
Neutral Detergent Fiber (NDF), akseptabilitas, dan physically effective neutral
detergent fiber (peNDF) (P<0,01). Nilai peNDF meningkat seiring bertambahnya
This study was an experimental study conducted to evaluate the effects of
different chopping ratios of elephant grass in Total Mixed Ration (TMR) on its
physicochemical characteristics and acceptability in sheep. The study used a
Randomized Block Design (RBD) with three treatments and four blocks, consisting
of different combinations of particle sizes at long:medium:short ratios ((=40 mm:
20 mm: =8 mm): P1 (10:50:40), P2 (20:60:20), and P3 (30:70:0). The results
showed that the treatments had a highly significant effect on compressed bulk
density, bulk density, packed bulk density, Neutral Detergent Fiber (NDF),
acceptability, and physically effective Neutral Detergent Fiber (peNDF) (P<0.01).
The peNDF value increased with increasing proportions of coarse particles, ranging
from 14.59%–53.70%. The conclusion of this research is increasing the proportion
of long and medium forage particles improved the physical effectiveness of fiber in
the Total Mixed Ration (TMR), potentially enhancing rumination activity in
ruminant livestock.
