      Abstract
Pengangguran meningkatkan pengalaman kerawanan pangan, sedangkan kemiskinan meningkatkan ketidakcukupan konsumsi energi.

Food insecurity in Indonesia remains a challenge amid food price fluctuations and income inequality. This study analyzes the effects of food inflation and other factors on food insecurity, measured by insufficient energy consumption and limited access to food, across 34 provinces in Indonesia during 2020-2024 using panel data regression. The results show that food inflation worsens both dimensions of food insecurity. Food expenditure share increases insufficient energy consumption in line with Engel’s Law, but exhibits an opposite relationship with the access to food dimension. Unemployment increases the experience of food insecurity, while poverty increases insufficient energy consumption. The Food Availability Index has no significant effect on either dimension, while higher PDRB per capita is associated with lower levels of both dimensions of food insecurity. These findings call for policies that address not only food production but also household purchasing power and targeted social protection in lower income regions.
