This study aimed to evaluate the effect of corn steep liquor (CSL) inclusion in broiler diets on the physico-chemical properties of feed and broiler performance. A total of 160 Cobb 500 broiler chickens were used in this study. The observed variables included the physico-chemical properties of the feed, namely proximate composition, moisture content, water activity, pellet durability index (PDI), and bulk density, as well as broiler performance, including feed intake, body weight gain, feed conversion ratio (FCR), mortality, and performance index throughout the rearing period. The experiment was arranged in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of four dietary treatments with four replicates. The treatments were as follows: P0 = diet without corn steep liquor (control), P1 = diet containing 5% corn steep liquor, P2 = diet containing 10% corn steep liquor, and P3 = diet containing 15% corn steep liquor. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA), and significant differences among treatments were further evaluated using Duncan's Multiple Range Test. The results showed that the inclusion of corn steep liquor had a highly significant effect (P < 0.001) on feed water activity. The pellet durability index (PDI) and bulk density of the feed remained within acceptable ranges. The diet containing 15% corn steep liquor resulted in the best broiler performance, as indicated by the highest final body weight (1.876 kg), the lowest feed conversion ratio (FCR) (1.63), the highest income over feed cost (IOFC) (Rp9,759 per bird), and the highest performance index (329.921). However, the moisture content of the feed at the 15% inclusion level reached 14.41%, slightly exceeding the recommended maximum moisture content. | |
