      Abstract

Youth involvement in innovation adoption and agricultural transformation has become a strategic issue in addressing agricultural workforce regeneration and promoting sustainable agricultural development. This study aims to identify the levels and forms of youth involvement, as well as the factors influencing their participation in innovation adoption and agricultural transformation. A Systematic Literature Review following the PRISMA guidelines was conducted using articles retrieved from the Scopus and Google Scholar databases published between 2010 and 2025, resulting in 52 eligible studies. The findings indicate that youth involvement is predominantly concentrated in on-farm activities as farmers (88%), followed by employment as agricultural workers (76%), while participation in downstream activities and decision-making remains relatively limited. The level of youth involvement across the reviewed studies is influenced by a combination of internal and external factors. Education (77%) emerged as the most dominant internal factor, highlighting the importance of human capacity and technological literacy, whereas government policies (79,2%) were identified as the primary external factor by providing institutional support, access to productive resources, and an enabling environment for innovation adoption. Furthermore, youth involvement contributes to agricultural sustainability (73.1%), increased productivity (69.2%), and the acceleration of innovation adoption within agricultural systems. These findings suggest that enhancing youth involvement requires strengthening human capital, expanding access to productive resources, and implementing youth-oriented policies to support sustainable agricultural transformation.
