| dc.description.abstract | Sugarcane molasses bioethanol purification is limited duet o ethanol-water azeotrope. Advanced purification, including extractive distillation and adsorption distillation, have been reported to increase ethanol concentration beyond the azeotropic limit. This study aimed to evaluate the purification of 95,23% sugarcane molasses bioethanol via an extractive-adsorptive distillation process using glycerol as an entrainer and 3A zeolite as an adsorbent. Bioethanol quality was assessed based on its physicochemical properties and ethanol content, and the process performance was compared with those of single technique. Extractive-adsorptive distillation increased the ethanol concentration by 3.32% using 15 mL of glycerol and 11 g of 3A zeolite, yielding density and refractive index values close to those of pure ethanol. GC-MS analysis confirmed the effectiveness of the purification process through the reduction and elimination of some impurities. 2FI ANOVA results indicated that the RSM model was not significant (p>0,05), limiting its applicability for optimization. The extractive-adsorptive distillation produced higher ethanol concentrations, whereas adsorption distillation showed better process efficiency. | |
