      Abstract

The government plan to reduce the Value Added Tax (VAT) rate has become one of the fiscal policy alternatives to enhance purchasing power and stimulate economic activity. At the same time, the government has allocated IDR 200 trillion to the banking sector to strengthen liquidity and expand lending capacity. However, empirical evidence on the effectiveness of combining these two policies remains limited. This study aims to analyze the effects of a VAT rate reduction, liquidity injection, and their interaction on economic agents' responses using an experimental economics approach. The results show that a VAT rate reduction stimulates economic activity by increasing aggregate demand, while liquidity injection strengthens the banking intermediation function. The combination of both policies generates a more effective economic stimulus than implementing each policy separately. These findings highlight the importance of fiscal and monetary policy coordination and demonstrate that experimental economics can serve as an alternative approach to evaluating economic agents' responses before the policy being implemented.
