dc.description.abstractPengujian radicle emergence (RE) merupakan metode uji cepat untuk menduga vigor benih karena kemunculan radikula mencerminkan aktivitas metabolisme benih. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendapatkan metode uji radicle emergence sebagai pengujian cepat vigor benih sorgum (Sorghum bicolor) dengan menggunakan pengolahan citra digital. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan kelompok lengkap teracak (RKLT) satu faktor, yaitu 9 lot benih sorgum varietas Bioguma 1, 2, dan 3 yang diperoleh melalui penyimpanan suhu ±18 ºC, suhu 21– 32 ºC, dan pengusangan cepat 43 ±1 ºC selama 72 jam. Mutu fisiologis benih dievaluasi menggunakan daya berkecambah, indeks vigor, kecepatan tumbuh, dan potensi tumbuh maksimum. Pengujian RE dilakukan pada 35, 40, 45, 50, dan 55 jam setelah pengecambahan. Data RE dianalisis menggunakan korelasi dan regresi terhadap tolok ukur viabilitas dan vigor benih. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan penyimpanan menghasilkan variasi mutu lot benih sorgum. Pengujian RE dengan citra digital paling akurat membedakan mutu benih pada 35 jam setelah pengecambahan dengan menghasilkan empat tingkatan mutu benih. Nilai RE memiliki korelasi positif sangat kuat dengan seluruh tolok ukur viabilitas dan vigor (r > 0,97). Periode 35 jam suhu 25 ±1 °C merupakan waktu pengamatan terbaik untuk menduga mutu benih sorgum, dengan korelasi tertinggi terhadap indeks vigor (r = 0,9887; R² = 0,9796).
dc.description.abstractThe radicle emergence (RE) test is a rapid method for predicting seed vigor, as the onset of RE reflects seed metabolic activity. This study aimed to develop an RE test method as a rapid vigor assessment for Sorghum bicolor seeds using digital image processing. A single-factor randomized complete block design was applied, utilizing 9 seed lots of Bioguma 1, 2, and 3 varieties. These lots were established through storage at ±18 ºC, room temperature (21–32 ºC), and controlled deterioration at 43 ±1 ºC for 72 hours. Seed physiological quality was evaluated based on germination percentage, vigor index, germination speed, and maximum seedling growth potential. The RE test was conducted at 35, 40, 45, 50, and 55 hours after imbibition. Data were analyzed using correlation and regression against viability and vigor parameters. The results showed that temperature treatments successfully generated variations in seed lot quality. Digital image-based RE testing at 35 hours was the most accurate. The RE values correlated strongly with all viability and vigor parameters (r > 0,97). The 35-hour period at 25 ± 1 °C was the optimal observation time for predicting sorghum seed quality, showing the highest correlation with the vigor index (r = 0,9887; R² = 0,9796).
