      Efektivitas Penambahan Fly Ash Batubara dan Pupuk Kompos terhadap Pertumbuhan dan Produksi Tanaman Alfalfa (Medicago sativa)

      Abstract
      Peningkatan pertumbuhan dan produksi alfalfa dipengaruhi oleh kesuburan media tanam, khususnya ketersediaan unsur hara dan pH tanah. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis efektivitas penambahan fly ash batubara dan pupuk kompos terhadap pertumbuhan dan produksi alfalfa. Penelitian dilakukan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) faktorial 3x3 dengan dua faktor, yaitu fly ash (0%, 5%, dan 10%) dan pupuk kompos (0%, 2,5%, dan 5%) dengan 10 ulangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan interaksi sangat nyata (p<0,01) fly ash dan kompos terhadap pH media. Interaksi sangat nyata (p<0,01) juga terjadi pada tinggi tanaman sejak 2 MST, serta terdapat interaksi nyata (p<0,05) pada jumlah daun tanaman dengan kombinasi F1K2 (5% fly ash + 5% pupuk kompos) menghasilkan tinggi dan jumlah daun tertinggi. Parameter jumlah cabang, diameter batang, klorofil daun, dan biomassa tidak menunjukkan adanya interaksi (p>0,05) dan hanya dipengaruhi oleh faktor tunggal. Simpulan dari penelitian ini fly ash dan pupuk kompos efektif meningkatkan pertumbuhan alfalfa, pupuk kompos berperan sebagai penyedia hara organik, sementara fly ash sebagai pembenah tanah dan sumber mineral tanah.
       
      Improvements in alfalfa growth and production are influenced by the fertility of the growing medium, particularly the availability of nutrients and soil pH. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of adding coal fly ash and compost as growing medium amendments on alfalfa growth and production. The study was conducted using a 3x3 factorial Complete Randomized Design with two factors, fly ash (0%, 5%, and 10%) and compost (0%, 2.5%, and 5%), 10 replicates. The results showed a highly significant interaction (p<0.01) between fly ash and compost on growing medium pH. A highly significant interaction (p<0.01) was also observed in plant height, and a significant interaction (p<0.05) on leaf number, the combination 5% fly ash + 5% compost yielding the highest plant height and number of leaves. The parameters of branch number, stem diameter, leaf chlorophyll, and biomass showed no interaction (p > 0.05) and were influenced only by single factors. The conclusion, fly ash and compost effectively enhance alfalfa growth, compost acts as a source of organic nutrients, while fly ash serves as a soil conditioner and a source of soil minerals.
