      Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of Instagram Reels as a social media platform for nutritional education regarding Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus among adolescents. A pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-test post-test approach was employed. The results indicated an increase in respondents’ knowledge post-intervention, with the median knowledge score 80.00. The Wilcoxon signed-rank test yielded a significance value of p < 0.001, demonstrating a statistically significant difference prior to and following the intervention. However the Normalized Gain (N-gain) score of 0.283 indicates that the effectiveness of the utilized media platform was low. While audiovisual Instagram Reels and visual-based infographic content is capable of enhancing adolescents’s understanding and awareness of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, this study recommends optimizing social media features and targeting respondents with lower baseline knowledge levels for future nutritional education interventions.
