| dc.description.abstract | This study aimed to evaluate the effects of dietary α-lipoic acid (ALA)
supplementation in a 30% protein, low-lipid diet on the growth performance of Nile
tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). The experiment was conducted using a completely
randomized design with four dietary ALA supplementation levels: 0, 200, 400, and
600 mg/kg diet. The experimental diets were fed to Nile tilapia with an initial body
weight of approximately 10 g, which were reared in net cages for 60 days. The
results showed that ALA supplementation up to 400 mg/kg diet did not significantly
affect the growth performance of Nile tilapia. However, supplementation with 600
mg ALA/kg diet significantly improved growth performance and protein efficiency
ratio, while reducing the feed conversion ratio. Therefore, it can be concluded that
the optimal dietary ALA requirement for Nile tilapia fed a 30% protein, low-lipid
diet is 600 mg/kg diet. | |
