T X, as a Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) company, produces 5 tons of activated sludge every month from the aeration process, which has the potential to be used as a mixture material for paving blocks. This Study aims to examine the characteristics of the activated sludge produced during the aeration process and analyze the effect of curing time and variations in the mixture of aeration waste activated sludge on water absorption and compressive strength of paving blocks. The trial mix used a cement to fine aggregate ratio of 1:3 with sludge content variations of 0, 5, 10 and 15%, and curing times of 7, 14 and 28 days. The results show that water absorption increases and compressive strength decreases with higher sludge content, while longer curing times can reduce water absorption and increase compressive strength. At a curing age of 28 days, the water absorption values for sludge contents of 0, 5, 10 and 15% were 5,04; 8,34; 15,61; and 19,02%, respectively. The compressive strength at sludge contents of 0, 5, and 10% were 14,47; 8,24; and 4,74 MPa, respectively, while at 15% sludge content, the test specimen failed. According to SNI 03-0691-1996, mixtures with 0 and 5% sludge meet the requirements of a maximum water absorption of 10% and a minimum compressive strength of 8,5 MPa, so they can be classified as grade D paving blocks for garden use.
