| dc.description.abstract | Cryopreservation of fish germ cells is an important method in genetic resource conservation and aquaculture development. This study aims to review various preservation methods, materials used, and factors affecting the success of fish germ cell preservation through a literature study. The study was conducted using scientific sources from the last 20 years. The results show that cryopreservation, particularly slow freezing and vitrification techniques, is the most widely used method. Permeable cryoprotectants such as dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) and ethylene glycol are effective in maintaining cell viability, especially when combined with non-permeable cryoprotectants. In addition, physical factors such as cooling rate and storage temperature, as well as biological factors such as cell type and size, significantly affect preservation success. Early-stage germ cells such as primordial germ cells and spermatogonia show higher resistance to cryopreservation. | |
