Pengaruh Sertifikasi Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) terhadap Kinerja Perusahaan Kelapa Sawit di Indonesia

Abstract

Industri kelapa sawit merupakan salah satu sektor strategis yang memiliki kontribusi besar terhadap perekonomian nasional. Di sisi lain, aktivitas pembukaan lahan serta operasional dalam industri ini kerap dikaitkan dengan berbagai isu lingkungan dan sosial. Salah satu bentuk respons perusahaan terhadap isu tersebut melalui penerapan sertifikasi Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). Penelitian ini mengkaji pengaruh sertifikasi RSPO terhadap kinerja perusahaan kelapa sawit di Indonesia dilihat dari aspek keuangan dan nilai perusahaan pada perusahaan yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia selama periode 2008–2024 dengan menggunakan metode regresi data panel. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan sertifikasi RSPO berpengaruh terhadap kinerja perusahaan dari aspek keuangan yang diproksikan oleh Return on Assets (ROA), serta terhadap kinerja perusahaan dilihat dari nilai perusahaan yang diproksikan oleh Tobin’s Q. Namun, sertifikasi RSPO tidak menunjukkan pengaruh signifikan terhadap Return on Equity (ROE). Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa sertifikasi RSPO lebih efektif dalam meningkatkan efisiensi pemanfaatan aset serta membentuk persepsi positif pasar dibandingkan dalam meningkatkan pengembalian kepada pemegang saham dalam jangka pendek.

The palm oil industry is a strategic sector that makes a significant contribution to the national economy. However, land clearing and operational activities in this industry are often associated with various environmental and social issues. One of the responses by companies to these issues is the adoption of Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) certification. This study examines the impact of RSPO certification on the performance of palm oil companies in Indonesia, viewed from financial performance and firm value, focusing on companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during the period 2008–2024 using panel data regression. The results indicate that RSPO certification affects financial performance, as proxied by Return on Assets (ROA), and firm value, as measured by Tobin’s Q. However, RSPO certification does not have a significant effect on Return on Equity (ROE). These findings suggest that RSPO certification is more effective in improving asset utilization and shaping positive market perceptions than in increasing shareholder returns in the short term.
