      Abstract

Indonesia is the world's leading betel nut supplier. However, in recent years, Indonesia's betel nut export market share has begun to decline due to increased competition from competing countries. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the competitiveness and trade position of Indonesia's betel nut. This study uses the Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA), Dynamic Revealed Comparative Advantage (DRCA), and Trade Specialization Index (ISP) methods to determine the competitiveness and trade position of Indonesia's betel nut. The results show that Indonesia has strong comparative competitiveness in four main markets. The DRCA analysis for the 2021-2024 period identified three markets (China, India, and Pakistan) as Falling Stars, while Iran was identified as a Leading Retreat. The average Trade Specialization Index (ISP) value was 0.99, confirming Indonesia's position as a net exporter at the maturity stage. The implications of these findings are the need for market diversification and improved trade diplomacy standards to address non-tariff barriers.
