dc.description.abstractIkan blue polar cichlid merupakan ikan hias dengan keunikan warna biru khas dan pita hitam melingkari tubuhnya, dan pada ikan jantan menunjukkan corak warna dan bentuk yang lebih menarik dibandingkan ikan betina sehingga maskulinisasi berpotensi meningkatkan proporsi jantan dalam populasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi efektifitas maskulinasi melalui perendaman larva berumur 10 hari menggunakan air kelapa dosis 35% dengan lama perendaman berbeda terhadap rasio jenis kelamin jantan ikan blue polar cichlid. Penelitian ini dilakukan menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri dari lima perlakuan dan tiga kali ulangan. Perendaman larva dengan air kelapa dosis 35% selama 5 jam (P1), 10 jam (P2), 15 jam (P3) dibandingkan dengan kontrol tanpa perendaman dalam air kelapa (P0) dan perendaman menggunakan 17a- methyltestosterone 1,8 mg/L air selama 8 jam (MT). Hasil penelitian menunjukan perendaman larva dalam air kelapa selama 15 jam meningkatkan nisbah kelamin jantan dan tidak berdampak buruk terhadap tingkat kelangsungan hidup selama perendaman sebesar 81±0,33% dan tingkat kelangsungan hidup selama pemeliharaan sebesar 100%. Namun presentase kelamin jantan ikan blue polar cichlid dengan air kelapa selama 15 jam lebih kecil yaitu 87,15±8,88% dibandingkan perlakuan MT yaitu sebesar 91,11±10,18%. Hal ini membuktikan bahwa air kelapa dapat meningkatkan presentase kelamin jantan ikan blue polar cichlid tetapi tidak lebih efektif dibandingkan MT.
dc.description.abstractThe blue polar cichlid is an ornamental fish known for its distinctive blue color and black stripes encircling its body, and in males, it shows more attractive color patterns and shapes compared to females, making masculinization potentially increase the proportion of males in the population. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of masculinization through soaking 10-day-old larvae in 35% coconut water with different soaking durations on the male-to-female sex ratio of blue polar cichlids. The study was conducted using a completely randomized design (RAL) consisting of five treatments with three replicates. Larvae were soaked in 35% coconut water for 5 hours (P1), 10 hours (P2), and 15 hours (P3), compared to a control without coconut water soaking (P0) and soaking using 17a- methyltestosterone at 1.8 mg/L of water for 8 hours (MT). The study results showed that soaking larvae in coconut water for 15 hours increased the male sex ratio and did not adversely affect the survival rate during soaking at 81±0,03% and the survival rate during maintenance at 100%. However, the percentage of male blue polar cichlid fish using coconut water for 15 hours was lower at 87,15±8,88% compared to the MT treatment, which was 91,11±10,18%. This proves that coconut water can increase the percentage of male blue polar cichlid fish but is not more effective than MT
