      Abstract

Water availability is crucial to the success of agriculture, especially amid climate change and pollution. Bekasi City, with its growing urban and industrial demand, is an ideal location to evaluate innovative irrigation systems. This study evaluates the performance of the Nirdaya Automatic Fertigator (FONi), an electricity-free automatic fertigation system based on evapotranspiration, in growing various eggplant varieties. Conducted over 118 days in a 15×12 m greenhouse, the study observed water consumption, crop coefficient (Kc), and productivity. Results showed Kc values ranging from 0.1 to 1.8, following a parabolic growth pattern. Total irrigation water use reached 1,329.3 liters, with water productivity ranging from 0.7 to 4.0 g/l and land productivity ranging from 173 to 1,120 g/m². FONi demonstrated high irrigation efficiency, minimal energy use, and suitability for small-scale agriculture. Optimization of environmental factors, particularly temperature and water levels, is recommended to enhance crop performance.
