      Abstract

The prevalence of dysmenorrhea in Indonesia among adolescents ranges from 60% to 75%, with 54.89% of them experiencing severe dysmenorrhea. In several countries such as Sweden, the United States, and Kuwait, the prevalence of dysmenorrhea ranges from 72% to 90%. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of education using flipcharts in improving adolescent girls' understanding of balanced nutrition principles and efforts to reduce menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea) among adolescents. The education program was conducted at SMAN 2 Cianjur, using a pre-experimental one-group pre-test post-test design, involving 45 female students as respondents. Data analysis in this study used validity and reliability tests for the research instrument, the Wilcoxon test to compare two paired data groups, and a normality test to determine whether the data was normally distributed. The results of the study showed a significant increase, with an average understanding score of 63.26 before the intervention and 93.40 after the intervention, with a p-value of <0.05. This education program, which utilized flipcharts as a medium, was proven to be more effective in improving understanding of balanced nutrition among adolescent girls.
