      Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of moringa leaf meal (Moringa oleifera) in basal rations on the blood lipid profile of male arabian chickens. The design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replications. The treatments given were control (P0), 1% moringa flour in the ration (P1), 2% moringa flour in the ration (P2), and 3% moringa flour in the ration (P3). The observed variables were blood cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL, and HDL. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and further test with Duncan test. The results showed that the administration of moringa leaf meal had no significant effect (P>0.05), but had a tendency (P<0.1) to reduce blood cholesterol in arabian chickens. Blood triglyceride, LDL, and HDL levels were not significantly different compared to the control. The conclusion of this study is that the provision of Moringa (Moringa oleifera) leaf powder in basal rations with effective levels of 1%-3% tends to reduce cholesterol levels, and can maintain normal values of triglycerides, LDL and HDL total blood plasma of male arabic chickens.
