      Abstract

Eating habits are patterns of human behavior related to attitudes, beliefs, and choices in consuming food on a daily basis. These habits can be divided into healthy and unhealthy. Eating habits are closely related to self-control. Self-control refers to an individual's behavior in self-regulation and changing reactions toward positive behaviors while avoiding negative behaviors. Previous research found self-control is associated with healthy eating habits. However, studies on eating habits and self control in Indonesia are still limited. Therefore, this research aims to determine the relationship between eating habits and self-control. Data collection is conducted through an online questionnaire, which consists of the Diet History Questionnaire III (DHQ III) for eating habits and Self-Control Scale (SCS) to measure level of self-control. The food data obtained from DHQ III is classified using the NOVA system. The results of the study show that higher self-control is correlated with an increased consumption of unprocessed or minimally processed foods (NOVA 1). Otherwise, higher consumption of processed foods (NOVA 3) and ultra-processed foods (NOVA 4) is associated with lower self-control. Self-control also affected with BMI, frequency of physical activity, and income
