EVALUASI PEMELIHARAAN SISTEM FREE RANGE TERHADAP ORGAN DALAM DAN SALURAN PENCERNAAN AYAM IPB-D1

Abstract

Pemeliharaan menjadi salah satu faktor keberhasilan suatu usaha ternak unggas. Umumnya pemeliharaan dilakukan secara intensif namun menyebabkan ayam hidup dalam kondisi stres dan tidak sejahtera. Upaya yang dilakukan untuk meminimalisir dampak negatif tersebut dengan menerapkan pemeliharaan sistem free range. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengevaluasi pengaruh pemeliharaan sistem free range terhadap kondisi organ dalam dan saluran pencernaan pada ayam IPBD1 umur 11 minggu di Sinar Harapan Farm. Sampel yang digunakan sebanyak 20 dari 110 ekor ayam IPB-D1 yang diambil secara purposive sampling. Data penelitian dianalisis secara deskriptif dengan menyajikan rata-rata (x̅) dan standar deviasi (sd). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bobot organ dalam dan saluran pencernaan ayam IPB-D1 yang dipelihara secara free range lebih berat dibandingkan ayam IPB-D2 yang dipelihara intensif. Kesimpulan penelitian ini bahwa sistem free range meningkatkan konsumsi serat kasar dari hijauan yang berdampak pada berat organ dalam menjadi lebih besar.

The rearing system is one of the success factors in the poultry farming business. In general, chickens are carried out intensively which causes the chickens to live under stressful conditions and leads to unwelfare poultry. Efforts made to minimize these negative impacts can be done with a free-range maintenance system. This study aims to evaluate the effect of rearing using the free range system on internal organs and digestive tract conditions of IPB-D1 chickens at 11 weeks of age at Sinar Harapan Farm. The sample used in this study was 20 IPB-D1 chickens taken by purposive sampling from 110 IPB-D1 chickens. The research data were analyzed descriptively by presenting the average (x̅) and standard deviation (sd). The results showed that free-range maintenance affected the internal organs and digestive tract of IPB-D1 chickens. Internal organ weights and digestive tract of IPB-D1 chickens reared in a free range showed heavier compared to those of IPB-D2 chickens. This study concludes that free range increases the consumption of crude fiber from forages which has an impact on the weight of the internal organs becoming larger.
