dc.description.abstractFeed grinding is one of feed processing undertaken to reduce feed ingredient particle size enabling improvement of mixing characteristics of the ingredients and increase pelleting efficiency and pellet quality. The objective of this research was to study the effect of different particle size on the physical pellet quality of the broiler diets. This research was designed by a completely randomized design with three treatments and three replication. The treatments were ground corn and soyabean meal with 2, 3, and 5 mm screen size for treatment P1, P2, and P3 respectively. Data obtained were analyzed with descriptif analysis for moisture content, shrink and production time, while the physical properties of broiler diet were analyzed by the analysis of variance (ANOVA) and any significant results were futher analyzed by contrast orthogonal test. The result show that particle size significantly (p<0.05) on pellet floating velocity, pellet angle of repose, mash and pellet specific density and pellet compacted density. However, particle size did not give significant effect on mash and pellet specific gravity, mash floating velocity, mash angle of repose and mash compacted density. The result of research show that the production time range from 64.6-76.3 minutes, total of shrink range from 4.51-8.85 % and pellet temperature range from 35-410C, 40-480C and 42-480C after cooling process during 30, 40 and 50 minutes respectively.id
