      Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effect of feeding maggot Black Soldier Fly on the reproductive tract and egg yolk follicles of Lohmann Brown strain laying hens. The experimental design used in this study was a completely randomized design (CRD) with 3 treatments and 5 replications with 10 chickens per replication. The treatment diets used in this study were: P0 = diet using maggot BSF 0% (control), P1 = diet using maggot BSF 6.7%, and P2 = diet using maggot BSF 13%. The variables measured were the length and weight of the reproductive tract, the number and weight of yolk follicles. The data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA), and if there was any significant result (P<0.05) were further tested using Tukey test. The results showed that feeding maggots BSF significantly (P<0.05) reduced the number of large white follicles, but the treatment had no effect on other variables. The conclusion of this study was that feeding dry maggot BSF up to 13% did not affect the reproductive tract and yolk follicles, but decreased for the number of large white follicles and feeding dry maggot BSF 6.7% was able to increase the percentage of the number of yolk follicles in laying hens of the Lohmann Brown strain.
