      Abstract

Low bearing capacity of subgrade needs to be stabilized to be used as a subgrade layer with an effective CBR value of >6%. The Soybean Crude Urease Calcite Precipitation (SCU-CP) method is one of the grouting methods to be used in stabilizing peat soil as a subgrade layer. This study aims to analyze the increase in the California Bearing Ratio (CBR) parameter and the effect of soil density on the CBR value to obtain the best alternative in the stabilization treatment. The research was conducted with variations of 50%, 70%, and 90% of the density of Standard Proctor and the optimum combination of SCU-CP solution. The results showed an increase in CBR with an average increase of 2 times in the unsoaked condition, while the soaked condition resulted in an average increase of 3 times from the untreated sample. Density of 70% Proctor in unsoaked condition is the best alternative considering the compaction effort. Considering the level of soil saturation and swelling of the subgrade, 90% Proctor density with grout treatment can be recommended as a stabilization method without the need for dewatering
