Natural killer (NK) cell consitutes white blood cells which specificelly functions in lysing tumor and virus invected cells. In this meamh, a commercial "Jamu" was tested to observe h effect on NK cells act@ against leukemic ceU lines 6562) in vitro. Jmu was extracted with hot water, dMed and added into ceN c u I m consisted of a mixfure of human piphe& I h m e cdk, as the source of the e M o r NK &, andK562 cdl line i.e., the t a p t celk which were cell line derived from human leukemia and had been 1WIed with H3-thymidine. The mixfure of fhe ce/& were made by c u h m the two cdk at the ratio of 50:l and 100 : 1, mpectkdy, The mulls showed that l@g a&@ of NK celk in the presence of *Jmu" wider extract measured as &sing percentage and lysing index imreased only slighbj~, which were not statisc#y si@cant. B should be cons- that fhe test used in his research nyments on& a paf of the Wng mehankm by NK cek against the ttvget cells. An in vivo test RK a period of the win be recessary to elucidde fiurther thk NK cell activity.
