The objectives of the study were to investigate the effect of family enviroments (socialeconomic, demographic, and culture) and food consumption on nutritional status of children under five. Data were collected from the provinces of DKI Jakarta, West Sumatera and Central Java. The total number of families interviewed were 444. ANOVA and regression were utilized to analyze the relationships among variables. Result of the study showed that childern of migrant families consumed lower amount energy but higher amount of protein than those of non-migrant families. Energy and protein were significantly influenced by income, pattern of child disciplines, and mothers’ participation in organizations. The study also showed that income, mother educational level, and mother-child interaction had significant effects on nutritional status of children under five.
