Interaction between Root-gall Nematode Colonizing Fungi and Meloidogyne incognita of Soybean
Abstract
This study was conducted to investigate the interaction between fungal species colonizing root-gall nematodes (egg and female adult stages) and Meloidogyne incognita of soybean. From this study it is expected to find a number of fungal species which are effective for controlling M. incognita of soybean. The experiment was done in the laboratory and greenhouse of the Department of Plant Pests and Diseases Faculty of Agriculture Bogor Agricultural University, from June 1995 to November 1996. The resistance of 19 soybean varieties to M.incognita was evaluated by infesting second-instar juveniles (L-2) to the soil containing 1-week-old seedlings. Each plant was planted in a polybag containing 4 litres of soil of Segunung andosol type which was infested with 500 L-2 M.incognitall of soil. The degree of resistance was determined acording to Taylor (1967).
