Manajemen Penunasan Kelapa Sawit (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) DI Kebun Adolina PTPN IV, Serdang Bedagai, Sumatera Utara
Abstract
This internship activities were carried out at the Adolina Plantation, PTPN IV, Serdang Bedagai, North Sumatera from February 2014 until June 2014. Internship activity aims to improve knowledge, skills and competence in field work and management, specially on prunning. Observations were conducted on the system and technique of prunning the number of retained leaf frond, number of male and, female flowers, and bunches of fruit per palm and prunning payment system. Data processing method used is quantitative statistical analysis, qualitative analysis and descriptive analysis according to the characteristics of the data obtained, and the results will be compared with literature and standard operational procedure (SOP) of the company. The sprouting adopted by the employee is not in accordance with Gardens Adolina PTPN IV’s SOP. Pruning of 6 months rotation is the main cause of difficulty to achieve an appropriate number of fronds aceordy to company’s SOP. Intensive training for the workers are needed. In addition pruning technique should be applied based on the number of retained fronds on the palm
