Kepok merah has fairly high commercial value as an ingredient in the manufacture of banana chips industry. Kepok merah contains vitamin B complex that is important for energy production and the formation of brain cells in infants. Commercial development of kepok merah can be supported by tissue culture technique. The purpose of this study was to determine which media as well as growth regulators and concentrations is the most favorable for shoot multiplication and root formation in kepok merah. Shoot multiplication used four treatments namely: basic Murashige and Skoog medium (MS) and Woody Plant (WP), each of these media was enriched with 0.5 ppm IAA and two levels of BAP (5 and 7 ppm). Rooting stage used four of treatments : MS with NAA 1 ppm or IBA 1 ppm, and WP with NAA 1 ppm or IBA 1 ppm. Results of the experiment showed that MS medium with 0.5 ppm IAA in combination with 5 ppm BAP produce 6 – 17 buds on each explants and gave better growth for its shoots. Planlet in media MS with NAA 1 ppm produce 3 – 16 roots better than that in MS with IBA 1 ppm.en
