dc.description.abstract | As a region which has a great tourism potential, ASEAN and China, India, Japan, and South Korea (ASEAN+4) cooperate to encourage the performance of the tourism sector. The tourism sector plays an important role in increasing household income and employment in the region. However, the development of the tourism sector in the countries of ASEAN+4 fluctuated. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the affect of tourism on the economy and the factors that affect tourist arrivals in ASEAN+ 4. Static panel data used to analyze the data obtained from the 13 ASEAN+4 during the period 2005 to 2012. The results of this study showed tourist spending, investment tourism sector, and total government spending affect the increase in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita rill. However, the level of corruption negatively affect the real GDP per capita. Furthermore, the results of this study indicate factors affecting the increase in tourist arrivals to ASEAN+4 countries is a public service, the total trade, life expectancy and gross domestic product in the country. However, the price factor influence on the decline in tourist arrivals to the region. | en |
