Keragaman Jenis Puntius spp. asal Perairan di Hutan Harapan Jambi

Abstract

The species of Puntius spp. showed a significant increase each year because of the new species addition. The use of molecular data was expected to strengthen in the disclosure and determination of new species and cryptic species of Puntius spp. in Harapan Rainforest Jambi. This research was conducted to determine the Puntius spp. diversity based on morphological and molecular characteristics. The morphological data obtained by identifying the meristic characters and measuring the morphometric characters. The molecular data obtained by analyzing the mitochondrial gene cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI) partially as barcode. The species of Puntius that has been identified were Puntius binotatus, Puntius tetrazona, Puntius lateristriga, Puntius gemellus, Puntius lineatus, and Puntius sp. “Harapan”. Species determination was based on the identification with the body style reinforced by molecular data. The results of morphometric analysis showed that the distribution of Puntius spp. divided in 2 clades in phylogeny tree with distance is 0.114. Nucleotide differences ranged from 4 bp to 118 bp from the total 709 bp.
