Biofilm is a thin layer that can be used as an alternative packaging and environmentally friendly. The objectives of this study ware to synthesis and to characterize biofilm made of tapioca starch with addition of glycerol as plasticizer, sodium alginate and limonene from orange peels. Then, the analysis was done to the biofilms, including the density, elongation, thermal analysis, morphology, water vapor permeability, and the application of biofilm to banana. Sodium alginate: glycerol: limonene (7.5:10:2.5) composition decreased the density, tensile strength, and water vapor permeability and increased the elongation value. The increase of glycerol concentration results in the decrease of melting point. The thermal analysis produced a single peak with melting point that showed that the biofilm was compatible. The morphology analysis showed that the film was homogenous. Application test showed that glycerol 10% can prolong the banana shelf life for 5 days.en
