This research aimed to determine the effects of the growing media composition on the growth and production of vetiver (Vetiveria zizanioides L. Nash) in a hydroponic system. The research was started from December 2013 to February 2014 and conducted in a greenhouse of the Cikabayan Bawah with elevation of 240 meters above sea level. The research implemented the randomized block design (RBD) with 2 experiments: (1) uncutted root plants, (2) cutted root plants. A single factor used in the research is the growing media composition (v/v) that consists of 3 levels: 100% charcoal husk, charcoal husk:styrofoam (2:1), and charcoal husk:styrofoam (1:1). The results showed that the growing media composition significantly affected the height plants, fresh and dry matter weight of the uncutted root plants, the roots length of the cutted root plants. These research showed that the vetiver growing in the mixed materials (charcoal husk:styrofoam) has a better growth than the one growing in the single materials.en
