dc.description.abstract | Utilization POME (Palm Oil Mill Effluent) for the production of methane gas has double advantages: increasing effluent quality and energy obtained from methanogenesis. Hydrolyzing microbes play key central role on hydrolyses of complex polysaccharide into fermentable sugar to produce methane gas. The objective of this research was to optimize hydrolyses process to enhance methane production by hidrolizing microbes. The experiment was started with determination of cellulolytic capacity on CMC media, and optimation of celulose activity, focused on the effect of temperature (30C and 50C) and methane gas in the sample analysis using GC-FID. Ability of ATH 2147 was able to hydrolyse cellulose, using CMC and POME substrates, while Y34 was able to ferment POME. Based on methane production consortia of ATH 2147 and Y34 was able to produce highest methane. Amount of methane produced dependent on amount of biomass and temperature. Optimum methanogenesis was at 30C. | en |
