From the survey of 4377 Indonesian toddlers, there are about 19.63% severely malnourished and moderately malnourished, 32.75% have abnormal height, 10.28% have abnormal weight, 54.97% live in poor housing and sanitation, 66.96% live in unhealthy environment, and 52.64% have family with middle-level economy. Severely malnourished children has a very thin to thin weight characteristics. Moderately malnourished children is thin to normal, has a very short stature, low level of health, and low-level economy. Parental education has an important role in health and condition of living environment. The lack of economic families is not always followed by malnourished children. But, family with high-level economy is followed by overnourished children. The more healthy living environment of toddler, the better nutritional status. Region of Kalimatan and eastern Indonesia seems to be priority in reduction of malnourished children. Parameters of geographic, economic, sanitation and housing, and neighborhoods do not seem good enough in describing the nutritional status of toddler. The better parameters in describing the nutritional status are household expenditure, the percentage of expenditure for toodler, the number and the order of children in the family, home ownership status, and spacious home inhabited. In addition, the design of survey area should be made more scientific.
