dc.description.abstractTurtle conservation is important activity for sustaining turtle resources. Turtle Conservation and Education Center (TCEC) in Pulau Serangan, Bali, which plays a significant role in conservation of turtle. TCEC has the potential for tourism activities, whereas the economic assessment is required for their sustainability. Research objectives of this study were to assess the turtle resource management system in TCEC, to identify the characteristics of turtle conservation in TCEC, to analyze the economic value of ecotourism in TCEC and to assess feasibility of the development of TCEC. The research method that used was survey. This research used data analysis method, that were (1) descriptive analysis, which used to assess the management system on turtle resources and to identify the characteristics of tourists, (2) Travel Cost Method (TCM), (3) Contingent Valuation Method (CVM), and (4) Cost Benefit Analysis (CBA). The result showed that were some differences in the characteristics of foreign and domestic tourists respondents viewed from age, educational background, income level, number of dependents and the frequency of their visits. TCEC has a high economic value, amounting to Rp 518.656.568.627. WTP values of domestics tourists respondents was Rp 10.661,76 per visit and the value of foreign tourists respondents was reach to Rp 55.333,33 per visit. Feasibility analysis of TCEC during 2008-2013 showed that financial sustainability of turtle conservation is limited, therefore the financial management of TCEC needs to be improved. Analysis of TCEC development plan from 2014-2023 indicated that TCEC will be feasible based on some criteria such as NPV> 0, Net B / C ≥ 1 and IRR ≥ discount rate.
