dc.description.abstract | Jatiluhur reservoir is a multi-purpose dam located in Citarum River basin, Purwakarta. This reservoir has a major contribution for fishery sector in West Java. Main fishing activites in Jatiluhur Reservoir is fish cultivation by using Keramba net cage (Keramba Jaring Apung) techniques. Farmers mostly grow golden fish and tilapia fish. Both fishes are the major commodities in Jatiluhur Reservoir. Farmers apply two kinds of cultivation systems monoculture (only golden fish) and polyculture (golden fish and tilapia). The main goal of this research is to estimate the rate of farmers’ income, both for monoculture and polyculture farming, in Jatiluhur Reservoir. The result showed that income earned by polyculture farmers is more favorable than monoculture farmers. The difference among the two systems was statistically significantly meaning that statistically the level of income of the farmers who applied polyculture system was significantly different from those who applied monoculture systems. The second goal is to identify the factors that influence the farmers’ decision in the selection of the pattern between monoculture and polyculture systems in Jatiluhur Reservoir with logistic regression analysis. Based on the result obtained, the factors that influence farmers’ decisions at 15 percent significant level are the level of education, length of experience cultivation, farmers’ income and number of dependents, while the acreage of KJA has no effect on the farmers’ decision. | en |
