Perilaku Masyarakat Indonesia dalam Penggunaan Internet
Abstract
The big role of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) caused the usage of ICT, especially mobile phone and internet, become a part in human daily life. Thus, it is needed to know about the description of the internet user’s behavior from observation and evaluation. This behaviour described so that the policy and infrastructure for internet access can be arranged based on the user’s condition. Ministry of Communication and Information Technology held a survey to get the data about access and ICT usage in household and personal, and analyzed descriptively using contingency table, chi-square test, and correspondence analysis to obtain the behavior of internet user. The analysis results show that 88% of respondence using the internet and user’s behaviors are different due to the demography. In average, frequency of internet usage is once in a week. This frequency does not different between male and female. The highest frequency comes from the users in DKI region. The results also show that older the users are, the frequency of internet usage will be higher too. Location preference in accessing internet from every region is house, except in Maluku & Papua region. Main location that Maluku & Papua’s users choose is internet cafe. Users in this region are using the internet rarely, so it is more efficient to go to internet cafe. Users in the rural use their phone to access internet, when using the internet they do study and searching about the government organization. Correspondence analysis shows that the most common activity the users do is opening social media sites, especially by the teenagers. Meanwhile the activities that kids do are studying and playing game. Based on the job, users are accessing the internet to do various things that can help them fulfill their needs in their daily life.
