White oyster mushroom extract contain lovastatin which can be used as anticholesterol agent. But, this extract is thought to be hepatotoxic in certain doses. The aim of this research was to analyze AST and ALT activities and to measure concentration of lipid peroxide in liver of hypercholestrolemic mice induced with white oyster mushroom extract. Animals used in this research were 35 males Sprague Dawley mice that have been divided into five groups, that are normal (N) group, hypercholesterolemia (HK), lovastatin (L), white oyster mushroom extract dose 30 mg/kg BB (E1) and white oyster mushroom extract dose 60 mg/kg BB (E2). Administration of white oyster mushroom extract dose 30 mg/kg BB decreased 32.92% AST activity, 34.73% ALT activity and also lowered 54.05% lipid peroxide concentration than HK group. Induction with white oyster mushroom extract dose 60 mg/kg BB decreased 38.78% AST activity, 24.62% ALT activity and also lowered 17.50% lipid peroxide concentration than HK group. This data showed that the oyster mushroom extract was not affect the function of rat liver and could act as antioxidant.en
