dc.description.abstractFish of by-catch has a high protein content, which is potential to be used as peptone. This research aimed to produce peptone from spoiled by-catch fish and applicate it as component of bacteria and yeast growth media. Peptone from by-catch fish has protein content of 77,93%. Growth of bacteria Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and yeast Saccharomyces cereviciae analyzes by OD and TPC. Growth rate of E.coli in media with peptone from by-catch fish is 0.062 per hour, meanwhile control is 0.071 per hour and commercial peptone is 0.072 per hour. Growth rate of S.aureus in media with peptone from by-catch fish is 0.047 per hour, meanwhile control is 0.042 per hour and commercial peptone is 0.039 per hour. Growth rate of yeast S. cerevisiae in media with peptone from by-catch fish is 0.167 per hour, meanwhile control is 0.160 per hour and commercial peptone is 0.166 per houren
