dc.description.abstractCucumber (Cucumis sativusL.) is a vegetable under the family Cucurbitaceae. The fruit is largely consumed in Indonesia. The formation of cucumber fruit is influenced by the generative phase. Ethepon functions as a plant growth regulators to induce flowering. The purpose of this research was to study the effect of the ethepon application on flowering and fruit formation in cucumbers. Randomized block design (RBD) was used for statistical analysis with ethepon concentration as the main factor. There are five levels of ethepon concentration used is 0 ppm, 31.25ppm, 62.50 ppm, 93.70ppm, and 125 ppm. The variety of cucumber which was usedis Venus. Ethepon treatment tends to preventthe plant from growing tall and the number of leaves.Ethepon concentration tends to increase male and female flowers, and amount of fruit compared with control. Ethepon application produces ratio of male and female flowers, and the ratio of female flower and fruits which fluctuated during the observation periode.en
