dc.description.abstract | This research was conducted in Cikabayan Experimental Field-University Farm IPB, Darmaga Bogor from January to September 2013. The objective of this research was to study the effect of biomulch and plant spacing on Chinese kale (Brassica oleracea L. cv. group Chinese Kale) crop production. The experiment was arranged in Randomized Completely Block Design with 2 factors, the first factor was types of biomulch and the second was plant spacing, with three replication. Types of biomulch consisted of no mulch, plastic mulch, Arachis pintoi biomulch, and a mini elephant grass biomulch, while the plant spacing were 30 cm x 30 cm and 50 cm x 50 cm. The results revealed that there was interaction between types of biomulch and plant spacing on stem diameter and petiole length. All types of biomulch at plant spacing of 30 cm x 30 cm and A. pintoi of biomulch at plant spacing of 50 cm x 50 cm can produce stem diameter and petiole lenght higher compared with other treatments. A. pintoi of biomulch can increased on plant height compared to other mulch. The plant spacing of 30 cm x 30 cm can increase Chinese kale weight per plots harvested compared to lighter spacing of 50 cm x 50 cm. Application of A. pintoi and plant spacing of 30 cm x 30 cm can increase Chinese kale production. | en |
