dc.description.abstractFishermen in Indonesia applied coconut leaves as an attractor in Fish Aggregating Device (FAD). The research was to conducted to examine palm fiber, a natural material wich was utilized as an-alternative attractor. This research aimed to compare the composition of catch around FAD using coconut leaves and palm fiber, and measure the distribution of lenght, and total weight of catch. There were 224 fish caught around FAD using palm fiber, which consisted of 12 species, and 6 families. Mostly, they were Carangidae which constituted 140 fish. There were 195 fish caught aroubd FAD using coconut leaves, which consisted of 13 species, and 9 families. Mostly, they were Carangidae which constituted 103 fish. The One-way ANOVA test showed thats the value of the catch was 0,829. It means there was no significant difference between two attractor in the number of catches in each fishing around.en
