dc.description.abstractThe growth of a population that is constantly evolving to make farmland diminished so needed rice varieties which are able to increase the yield of rice. One alternative to breeding rice plants with the help of molecular markers technology. The objective of this study was find correlation between introgressed and character, then strategy of new superior varieties development. Bio-148 rice that used as result of cross IR64 rice-Gajah Mungkur. Characterization of Rice Bio- 148 was observed and measured plant height, days to flowering, number of panicles per plant, number of grains per panicle, number of primary and secondary branches, 1000 grain weight compared with both parent. Molecular markers used were SSR markers (microsatellites) with 57 primer located on chromosome 1 to 12. Results showed number of primary and secondary branches and number of grains. Molecular survey results using acrylamide gel fragment size of 100-200 bp. Molecular analysis of the results showed that there were introgressed chromosome segments Gajah Mungkur responsible for the superior character of Bio-148 i.e. grain number, grain weight, filled grains, and the number of panicles located on chromosome 5,7, and 10 Bio-148 rice.en
