dc.description.abstractEel (Anguilla sp.) rearing activity produces high organic waste. Organic waste materials will lead to increase eutrophication, and cause rapid growth of microalgae and aquatic plants and disturbs the balance of aquatic ecosystems. Freshwater mussel (P. exilis) can be used as bioremediation agent of organic waste from eel (Anguilla sp.) culture, because of its bio-filtration ability. The results showed that mussel can reduce organic matter and effective time of mussel (P. exilis) to reduce organic waste from eel (Anguilla sp.) culture is the first 6 days. 100% waste concentration and small size of freshwater mussel (P. exilis) is the most effective treatment. The treatment be able to reduce the COD 66,1 mg/L (28%), turbidity of 187,2 NTU (16%), TSS of 134 mg/L (36%), and ammonia of 0,004 mg/L (24% ), however biomass increased 7,21 grams (3%).en
