Potensi Populasi Gandum (Triticum aestivum) Putatif Mutan Generasi M4 untuk Toleransi terhadap Dataran Menengah Iklim Tropis Basah di Indonesia
Abstract
Wheat is an important food world because of its many benefits. According to their home environment, wheat can be grown well in areas with low temperature and in Indonesia is only found on the plateau with limited area. Therefore wheat varieties that are tolerant to the mid- to low-latitude with higher temperatures needed to be created. Gamma-ray irradiation has been treated on four wheat introduced varieties, namely Basribey, Kasifbey, Oasis and Rabe. The fourth generation of putative mutant populations shows higher mean and variance compare with the wildtype on plant height, tiller number, panicle length and spikelet number, but not on seed weight. The Basribey putative mutant population has the highest mean for almost all of the characters than the other three populations. Characters with moderate to high broad sense heritability were number of tillers, flowering, harvesting, number of spike, percentage of empty florets, main panicle seed weight, tillers panicle seed weight and seed weight per plant.
