dc.description.abstract | Mangroves in Indonesia are decreasing in number because of several causes, while the main cause of the mangrove conversion is mostlyfishery farming.Fishery farming areas in coastal areas are usually cleared from mangroves, as a result, so many loss, local communities couldn’ttake direct nor indirect benefits from the existence of mangroves. So, Government introduces a more environment-friendlier way of fishery farming, which is silvo-fishery farming (fishery mangrove in mangrove area), but it’s not well informed to all of farmers, and there is no quantitative prove abouthow much this silvo-fishery farming better than the old way (the full conversion of mangroves). The article examines whether or not the silvo-fishery farming is better than the old way and how much is the difference.By using feasibility analysis and producer’s surplus analysis, the results indicate that although the old way of fishery farming is also viable and creates benefits, it is so not as much as the silvo-fishery would gives. | en |
