dc.description.abstractThe increasing of population was related with the high demand through settlement area and transportation infrastructure. As a result, there was competition in the utilization of area where the area characteristic was fixed. It impacts that many resident lived in the settlement did not concerned about the environment factor that could effects toward the convenience and healthy, such as the people who lived nearby the train track. Train activity could create the positive and negative externality. The positive externality were transportation cost savings, easy and fast access. The negative externality were the noise pollution, security, and criminality risk. The research objective were to describe the negative externality caused by the train noise, to determine the willingness of family to receive the compensation funds, to estimate the compensation funds amount that willing to be received by the family as the compensation of train noise, and to determine the factors effects the compensation funds amount received by family. This research used the descriptive analysis, Willingness to Accept (WTA) analysis with Contingent Valuation Method (CVM), and linear regression. The result of research are disturbance due to noise is perceived communication disorder, easy to get shocked, emotional, concentration, increasing of blood pressure, increasing of pulse, disorder on digestion function, majority of respondents willingness to receive the compensation funds as a result of train noise, the alleged value of WTA average respondents is Rp 80 750/month/head of a family, the total value of WTA average is Rp 4 845 000/month and the total value of WTA population is Rp 22 610 000/month, positively variables of WTA model are a long stay, quality of noise, the work of the workers driver, and education and negatively variables are revenues and distance of places live to a source of noiseen
